2022 BMW X6 Preview: Changes, Features, Release Date, Interior

2022 BMW X6 featured

The first successful coupe crossover we know has been around for a while and it is already in the third generation. The current version has been introduced two years ago and as we are talking about a model that still feels pretty fresh on the market, no one expects to see more significant changes for the 2022 BMW X6. Most likely, we will see a familiar design, based on the more conventional X5 model and the best we could see in terms of novelties are new colors and features. The rest is about to remain the same.

This means you may count on a vehicle that has so many things to offer. Of course, the driving experience is one of the first things that come to mind, while we also like the model’s high-end interior, as well as a pretty long list of standard equipment. On the other side, the X6 pays debt to its coupe-like design, so it isn’t as practical as more conventional segment rivals.

We expect to see the 2022 BMW X6 sometime in the last quarter of the year.

2022 BMW X6 Redesign

When it comes to base design characteristics, the 2022 BMW X6 definitely won’t bring any particular surprise. The current generation has been around for just a couple of years, so it seems way too early for any particular updates. Of course, there is always a chance to see a couple of minor changes in terms of new color options and features, but the overall design definitely remains the same. It is based on the company’s new CLAR platform and, as you may presume, most of the parts are shared with the X5 model, including the wheelbase that goes around 117 inches.

In terms of styling, the current model already follows the brand’s current design language and shouldn’t change in the next few years. The front end is pretty much the same as on the X5 model, while the rest of the body comes in a little bit different layout. Of course, the most prominent area is the rear end, which comes with a sloping roof that provides that coupe-like appearance. This part definitely won’t change before the redesign.

Interior

On the inside, things are also pretty much the same as in the more conventional, odd-numbered sibling, at least in terms of the dashboard. This means you may count on a high-end cabin, which offers super-fine materials and lots of styles. The cabin also comes with a full load of features but we will get on that in a minute.

The biggest complaints about this crossover go to its interior layout. Due to the lack of passenger room, you can’t count on too much cargo space. Also, the third row is not available, while the amount of headroom in the second row is smaller compared to the X5. Also, the rearward visibility is poor.

Features

As we’ve just mentioned, the list of standard and available equipment is pretty impressive. Therefore, we doubt that too many things will change, even though there is a chance to see few novelties in this aspect. The current model comes standard with things like a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, HD Radio, satellite radio, 10 speakers, Bluetooth, and five USB ports, as well as with dual-zone climate control, keyless entry, push-button start, a hands-free power liftgate, and a panoramic moonroof.

When it comes to options, you can get things like quad-zone climate control, remote start, wireless device charging, a Wi-Fi hot spot, hand gesture recognition, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon stereo, and a 20-speaker Bowers & Wilkins stereo.

2022 BMW X6 Engines

This aspect definitely won’t change, so you may count on the same, very generous offer of powertrain options. Base models will continue with a well-known 3.0-liter turbo inline-six, which puts out around 335 horsepower. If you’re looking for something peppier, there are two V8 options in offer, both equipped with a familiar 4.4-liter V8. The base version is reserved for the M50i model and puts out around 523 horsepower, while the version with the “M” badge delivers full 600 horses. Even this one can be upgraded with the Competition package, which brings additional 17 horses. The most powerful version needs just a little bit over 3 seconds to hit 60 mph.

All engines come in pair with an excellent 8-speed automatic transmission. The base inline-six is also quite efficient, as it returns around 21 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, which is pretty good for a mid-size crossover.

2022 BMW X6 Release Date and Price

Since there are no bigger changes to come, we expect to see the 2022 BMW X6 sometime late in the year, with a starting price of around 65.000 dollars. Of course, key competitors are models like Audi Q8, Mercedes-Benz GLE, etc.
