2023 BMW X2 Gets New GoldPlay Package

Even though the current generation of BMW’s subcompact coupe crossover has been around for a pretty long time, it still looks fresh and very competitive. Of course, constant updates are one of the main reasons. In the last couple of years, we’ve been seeing some pretty interesting updates, so the 2023 BMW X2 continues in the same way. For this year, the Bavarian carmaker has prepared some pretty interesting things, mainly in the form of the new GoldPlay package.

The new package brings mechanical upgrades, along with some exclusive styling details. However, the overall layout remains the same. This means that you may count on a crossover that offers a high level of athleticism, thanks to engaging handling and capable powertrain options. Furthermore, the interior quality is good, while the list of standard and available equipment is long. On the other hand, the amount of rear passenger space and cargo room is smaller compared to the X1.

2023 BMW X2 Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2023 BMW X2 brings some interesting updates. The most important is the introduction of the new GoldPlay package. This new package will be offered in models with the base 228-hp engine and you may count on several upgrades. In terms of mechanics, the GoldPlay includes everything that comes with the M package, such as a sport-tuned suspension with a lower ride height as well as a retuned steering system. Also, there are various exclusive styling details, such as the new front-end design and gold exterior trim accents. Also, this version will come in some pretty exclusive color options. Those are San Remo Green, Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Storm Bay, or Skyscraper Grey.

The rest of the lineup will continue in the same way. Therefore, you may count on a familiar driving experience. This crossover is easy to drive and offers precise handling. It is one of the most athletic models in the class but for that reason, some drivers may find its ride too firm.

Interior

On the inside, the 2023 BMW X2 continues in the same way. This small crossover features a nicely-designed cabin, which is full of quality materials and attractive color schemes. At the same time, the dashboard features a pretty conservative design, which looks great in a combination with a couple of modern features. All in all, there is nothing to complain about regarding interior quality.

On the other hand, the coupe-like design brings some compromises regarding interior space. While the front seats are spacious and comfortable, the second row lacks headroom in the case of taller passengers. Also, the cargo area offers around 21.6 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats and 50.1 cubic feet of the total cargo volume. Although these are average numbers for the class, they are still notably lower compared to the more-conventionally designed X1.

Features

As we already mentioned, this model comes with lots of equipment. Base versions come standard with goodies like dual-zone climate control, an 8.8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 10-speaker stereo, HD Radio, satellite radio, navigation, Bluetooth and a USB port. Additionally, you can opt for things like wireless device charging, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a panoramic sunroof etc.

Things aren’t any different in terms of safety. Base models come with goodies like a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, speed limit recognition, parking sensors etc. Additionally, you can opt for goodies like park assist, adaptive cruise control, head-up display and more.

2023 BMW X2 Engines

The 2023 BMW X2 continues with two familiar powertrain options on the offer. Base models come with the sDrive28i moniker and feature a 2.0-liter turbo-four with 228 horsepower and 258-pound feet of torque. The engine comes in pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to the front wheels. The xDrive28i comes with the same engine and transmission but also features an all-wheel drive.

On the other hand, there is the M35i model, which also comes with a turbo-four engine, but is tuned up to 302 horsepower. All-wheel drive is standard in this case, while the 0-60 time takes around 4.6 seconds.

When it comes to fuel economy, the base front-wheel-drive model returns around 25 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway, which is quite typical for the segment.

2023 BMW X2 Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2023 BMW X2 will arrive this summer, with a starting price of around 37.000 dollars. Models like Volvo XC40, Audi Q3 and Mercedes-Benz GLA will remain key competitors.
