2023 Lincoln Aviator Is Getting EV Version!

2023 Lincoln Aviator

Two years ago, the Aviator has been re-launched, after a 15-year hiatus. It has brought a completely new design and it looks like the next year is about to bring more interesting novelties. From what we know so far, this will be a mid-cycle refresh but with more than just typical mid-cycle updates. Of course, we will see things like styling updates, new interior features and similar things. However, the biggest novelty will be the introduction of an all-electric version.

This BEV version will be an important part of the company’s plan for full electrification by 2030. This will be the first vehicle of this kind in Lincoln’s lineup. At this point, we don’t know much about specs and details but if we consider that the new model will be built alongside Mustang Mach-E, we may presume that it could feature a similar setup regarding battery and electric motors.

2023 Lincoln Aviator Design

First of all, this will be a mid-cycle refresh. The current generation arrived in 2020 and this seems like a perfect time for updates. At this point, there aren’t many details about the refresh but we presume this could be a typical facelift. So, the focus would be on the styling. We presume that these changes would be rather subtle, considering that the current model already looks pretty nice. We expect a few revisions at the front, as well as typical mid-cycle updates like new wheels, color options, appearance packages etc.

The mechanical aspect of the vehicle shouldn’t change, except for the new all-electric version. For this occasion, we expect that the company will modify the CD6 platform and offer a setup that’s quite similar to the Mustang Mach-E. In terms of the styling, we presume that the 2023 Lincoln Aviator EV will come with a couple of details that accentuate the model’s all-electric nature.

Interior

We don’t believe that the  2023 Lincoln Aviator could bring more significant changes on the inside. The current model already looks really nice from the inside. It features classic elements and design solutions, which come in a combination with a couple of modern tech features, including a tablet-like 10.1-inch touchscreen. The next year’s update would bring a few tweaks regarding materials and color schemes. We wouldn’t be surprised if we see a larger infotainment screen as well.

On the other hand, the overall layout will certainly remain the same. The Aviator comes standard with three rows of seats and accommodates up to seven people. The front seats are spacious and comfortable, while the second row accommodates adults pretty easily as well. On the other hand, the third row is relatively tight but that’s a typical thing for the segment.

The cargo area offers around 18.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind its third-row seats, 41.8 cubic feet with these seats folded, and a generous 77.7 cubic feet of the total cargo volume. That’s pretty impressive for the segment.

Features

We have no doubt that the upcoming update will also bring a lot of novelties in terms of standard and available equipment. We presume that many of the current options will become standard, while we might see some brand-new things as well.

For reference, the current model comes standard with tri-zone climate control, remote start, keyless entry, a 10.1-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, satellite radio, a 10-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, four USB ports, and a Wi-Fi hot spot. Additionally, there are optional features like quad-zone climate controls, panoramic sunroof, navigation, HD Radio, wireless device charging, a 14- or 28-speaker Revel sound system, and a rear-seat entertainment system with two 10-inch displays.

2023 Lincoln Aviator Engines

We expect that the 2023 Lincoln Aviator will carry on with a familiar 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6, which puts a max output of 400 horsepower. That’s more than enough for a convenient ride, while those who prefer something even peppier can opt for the plug-in hybrid. This model features a system that’s based on the same V6 engine but also includes an electric motor and a battery pack. The combined output goes up to 494 horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque.

As for the all-electric version, the details are still unavailable. Still, we presume that the 2023 Lincoln Aviator EV could have a lot of things in common, including the powertrain. This could mean the same AWD setup with the max output of 346 horsepower, or even the setup from the GT version, which puts out 480 horsepower.

2023 Lincoln Aviator Release Date and Price

The 2023 Lincoln Aviator will arrive sometime in the next year. Still, a more precise date is yet to be announced. Base models should go around 53.000 dollars, while the key competitors should be models like Cadillac XT6, Genesis GV80 etc.
