2024 BMW X1 Migh Get High-Performance Variant?

BMW’s entry-level crossover has just been redesigned for the 2023 model year. With all the improvements that were done to the already impressive vehicle, the new generation seems even better than that and there is no doubt it will remain our favorite in this class. Does this mean that there are no changes to come for the second production year, it’s hard to say at the moment. Namely, there are rumors that the 2024 BMW X1 could finally get the M-badged version, although the officials are still quiet on this matter.

If the company is about to release the X1 M, we would expect all kinds of upgrades, starting from a more powerful engine, chassis and suspension upgrades, new styling details etc. On the other hand, the overall design would remain the same. We would see a familiar design, which makes this SUV feel strong in pretty much all points.

The 2024 BMW X1 should arrive sometime in the last quarter of the year.

2024 BMW X1 Design

So, 2023 has just received a full redesign. With all the novelties that were introduced, there’s no doubt that the 2024 BMW X1 will carry on in the same way. There is the new design is also based on a familiar, but significantly updated UKL2 platform. The new generation features slightly bigger dimensions and comes with further enhancements regarding ride quality. Of course, the is also the new styling, which provides a more aggressive appearance, with a bolder grille, more prominent headlights etc.

On the other hand, the possible 2024 BMW X1 M would come with further enhancements. First of all, we would expect to see some chassis and suspension upgrades, with a typical M treatment. The brakes would be bigger, while there is no doubt that this version would come with styling enhancements that would accentuate the model’s performance nature and make it look even more aggressive.

Interior

Of course, the recent redesign also brought new interior design and, of course, the 2024 BMW X1 will carry on in the same way. There is the new dashboard design, with a new shape and new materials. The most prominent part of the new dashboard is the new panel that integrates a massive infotainment screen and a digital instrument cluster. We also like the layout of the new, floating center console, which makes this interior look even more upscale.

The size increase provides some improvements in passenger space in both rows. Furthermore, we really like the front seats, which are well-shaped and spacious. The second row also accommodates adults with ease, while the cargo area offers around 25.7 cubic feet behind the second row and 57.2 cubic feet of the total cargo volume, which are some of the highest ratings in the class.

Features

Considering that we are talking about the second production year of the generation, it’s pretty much for sure that there will be no bigger changes in terms of standard and available equipment. So, base models will carry on with standard features like 18-inches wheels, a power liftgate, digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, navigation system, 10.7-inch infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto etc. Also, there are safety features like forward collision mitigation, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, parking sensors etc.

You can get numerous extra features by opting for some of the available packages, such as the Convenience package, Premium package, xLine package, Shadowline package, M Sport package, Driving Assistance Professional package etc.

2024 BMW X1 Engines

Under the hood, standard models will continue with the same, recently updated 2.0-liter turbo-four engine. The new version offers higher output compared to the previous generation and it is rated at 241 horsepower, which is 13 horses more compared to the previous generation. Also, there is a new 7-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission, which also has a great impact on the model’s 0-60 sprint that’s done in just 5.4 seconds. At the same time, this SUV is also pretty efficient, with an average fuel economy of around 25 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway.

For the next year, various reports also speculate about the X1 M model, which would be a high-performance version of the SUV. This model would probably feature the same turbo-four engine but tuned up to a much higher output, certainly over 300 horsepower. Some sources even speculate about the plug-in hybrid setup, but we can’t say if such a scenario sounds likely or not.

2024 BMW X1 Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2024 BMW X1 will arrive sometime in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 39.600 dollars. Of course, key competitors will remain the same, in the form of models like Mercedes-Benz GLA, Mercedes-Benz GLB, Audi Q3 etc.
