2024 Kia Sorento Is Getting Mid-Cycle Refresh!

Big changes are coming for the 2024 Kia Sorento! Namely, although the current generation was introduced just a few years ago, the Korean manufacturer feels it’s the perfect time for a mid-cycle refresh. What’s interesting is that this update will be significant in many ways. We are about to see not just styling updates, but also a completely new interior. This will be a complete makeover, both outside and inside, while the mechanical aspect of the vehicle will probably remain unchanged.

There’s no doubt that the new model will look more attractive and more appealing. On the other hand, it will continue delivering familiar strong points, starting from the upscale interior, wide powertrain offer, long list of standard equipment and composed handling. Also, let’s not forget the excellent fuel economy.

Considering all the updates, the 2024 Kia Sorento should arrive a little bit earlier than usual, though we have no doubt this will happen within the second half of the year.

2024 Kia Sorento Design

Of course, the first thing to talk about is the exterior design, which is about to get a complete makeover. The test mule has been spotted on the road and it comes with complete camouflage, around the whole body, so it’s pretty obvious that changes will happen in all areas. Naturally, most of them will happen at the front, where we expect to see new headlights, probably with the same upright design as in the new Telluride. We also expect to see a bolder grille, with a new pattern, while bumpers will be reshaped for sure. A few more tweaks on the rear end are possible too, while we also count on things like new wheels, new color options, appearance packages etc.

On the other hand, we don’t believe that the 2024 Kia Sorento could bring bigger changes in terms of the chassis and suspension setup. This SUV offers composed handling, with a pretty decent level of athleticism. The trade-off is that the ride might feel a little bit too firm to some.

Interior

As we already mentioned, this will be much more than a typical facelift. Besides exterior updates, this model will also bring significant novelties on the inside. The test mule still features complete camouflage on the inside, but we can clearly see that the 2024 Kia Sorento will feature the same design of the instrument cluster and infotainment system, both integrating into the same, massive panel. Practically, that would be the same design we already saw in the new Sportage and updated Telluride.

Further dashboard updates should include a few more revisions to the dashboard, including the center stack. Furthermore, we expect to see new materials and color schemes, and everything should be complemented by a good portion of standard and available equipment.

On the other hand, the overall layout will remain the same and the 2024 Kia Sorento will continue delivering three rows of seats, despite the smaller size when compared to most mid-size SUVs. The first two rows are very generous with space and offer a high level of comfort. On the other hand, the third row may be tight but it is certainly a feature that makes this SUV very practical and functional.

Finally, there is the cargo volume, which probably won’t change with the next year’s refresh. So, we expect something like 12.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind its third-row seats, 38.5 cubic feet of space with the third row down, and 75.5 cubic feet of the total cargo volume.

2024 Kia Sorento Engines

Although we are heading to a pretty significant update, the powertrain lineup is likely to remain unchanged. Therefore, base models will continue with a familiar 2.5-liter inline-four, which puts out 191 horsepower. It comes coupled with n 8-speed automatic transmission and offers enough power for daily commuting. Still, the optional 2.5-liter turbo-four is much power, with a max output of 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. Moreover, this engine comes with a dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Also, there are two hybrid versions, both base on a 1.6-liter turbo-four. The first one is a classic, self-charging hybrid, which offers a combined output of 226 horsepower. The plug-in hybrid version utilizes a bigger battery and a more capable electric motor, so the max output goes up to 261 horsepower. Moreover, you may also count on about 30 miles of the EV range.

2024 Kia Sorento Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2024 Kia Sorento will arrive sometime in the second half of the year. The current model starts at around 31.500 dollars and we don’t expect to see a significant price increase for the next year.
