2024 Nissan Pathfinder Could Get Hybrid Powertrain

2024 Nissan Pathfinder

Nissan’s three-row family hauler has just been redesigned and if we consider all the novelties that came, it’s pretty obvious that the new design will remain in production for a long time. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that we won’t be seeing novelties. According to some reports, new things could come already with the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder, which will represent the third production year of the generation. Allegedly, Nissan could introduce a new powertrain option, based on the company’s new e-POWER technology.

Other than the powertrain, things shouldn’t change much. We expect to see the same design, which has brought a lot of novelties in the last year, starting from a completely new design, new technologies, new cabin layout, improved ride quality etc.

Despite the potential update, we don’t believe that the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder could arrive much earlier than usual. We expect to see it in the second half of 2023.

2024 Nissan Pathfinder Might Get Hybrid Powertrain

According to rumors, the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder could bring a new powertrain. Allegedly, we are about to see a hybrid version of the Pathfinder. In that case, we presume that Nissan would implement its new technology called e-POWER, where things work a little bit differently compared to a classic hybrid setup. Namely, the power comes to the wheel from electric motors, while the gasoline engine works as a power generator that charges the battery.

On the other hand, standard models would continue with a familiar 3.5-liter V6 engine, which puts out around 284 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque. The engine comes in pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission and the whole setup feels pretty capable and pretty refined. Also, you may count on about 21 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, which is about average for the segment. Of course, front-wheel drive will be standard, while the AWD will be available.

2024 Nissan Pathfinder Design

Other than the new hybrid powertrain, we don’t see room for bigger changes. The 2024 Nissan Pathfinder should carry on with the same design, which has just been introduced. The new generation has brought a completely new styling, which looks way more attractive than before. So, we don’t expect to see visual changes, though there is always room for smaller updates, such as new color options, or maybe a new appearance package.

The same is with the mechanics. This SUV still rides on a good-old D platform, which has been updated and now offers better ride quality, whether it’s about comfort or handling. When it comes to off-roading, this model comes with a couple of traction control modes but it’s hardly a genuine off-roader, considering that the ground clearance is just 7 inches.

Interior

The Pathfinder may not be a great off-roader but on the other hand, it is a fantastic family hauler. The cabin looks very elegant and very upscale, so we don’t expect bigger changes in the following years. You may count on the same layout, which offers a great combination of quality materials, a lot of attention to detail, plenty of tech features and attractive aesthetics.

There is also a pretty generous amount of space. The front seats are massive and supportive, among the best in class. The second row is also spacious and comfortable, while the third row is typically tight for the segment and works best for kids.

The cargo area offers around 16.5 cubic feet behind the third row, 45 behind the second row and 80.5 cubic feet of the total cargo volume. That’s about average for the segment but less than you get from rivals like Subaru Ascent.

Features

There is always a chance to see some novelties regarding the standard and available equipment but we are pretty sure that the 2024 Pathfinder won’t be much different compared to the current model. Therefore, you may expect to see the base model with goodies like keyless entry, tri-zone climate control, an 8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, four USB ports, satellite radio, and a six-speaker stereo. Among upgrades, expect to find goodies like remote start, panoramic sunroof, a 9-inch touch screen, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay, two additional USB ports, a 13-speaker Bose sound system, and wireless device charging.

When it comes to safety, base models will come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, driver drowsiness monitoring etc.

2024 Nissan Pathfinder Release Date and Price

Despite the potential novelties, we expect to see the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder in the typical time, sometime in the second half of the next year. When it comes to the price, the current model starts at around 36.000 dollars and we don’t expect to see bigger changes in the future.
