Next-Generation 2024 Nissan Patrol Has Been Spotted!

There aren’t many genuine SUVs left on the market left. Aside from a couple of exceptions, most manufacturers turned to unibody crossovers, offering better comfort but sacrificing a significant dose of off-road capability. Fortunately, the Patrol managed to hold on its own and it looks like it will in the future as well. The test mule of what’s believed to be the next generation has been spotted and it is expected to arrive sometime in the next year. Most details about the all-new 2024 Nissan Patrol are still kept a secret, but some things about the new model are relatively easy to predict.

Speaking about the predictable things, we are pretty sure that the next generation will continue to ride on the same, though significantly updated platform. Also, we are pretty sure that the new model will get a new engine and feature six cylinders instead of eight. Finally, the new model will bring a new exterior design, along with a completely new cabin look.

2024 Nissan Patrol Redesign

As we’ve just mentioned, there is a full load of novelties to come. The new model will be codenamed Y63 and we presume that it won’t get a completely new platform. Instead, the good-old F-Alpha platform will carry on, though with significant updates. Practically, we would see pretty similar treatment the company already gave in the case of new Frontier. The architecture will be modernized in many ways, starting from the adoption of new, advanced driver-assistance and safety features.

Besides new technologies, we presume the next generation will also get some updates in terms of the suspension setup, which would be a little bit more refined and provide a slightly smoother ride. Still, we don’t expect Nissan engineers to sacrifice Patrol’s ruggedness, so the new generation should continue with a high level of off-road capabilities.

Exterior

As for the exterior design, the test mule of what’s believed to be the next-generation 2024 Nissan Patrol has been spotted in the Middle East. It still wears a complete camouflage, so it’s hard to talk about details. We presume that the company will implement the brand’s new design language. Still, we have to say that the recent refresh brought pretty impressive styling solutions, so changes shouldn’t be radical.

On the other hand, we presume that the overall shape shouldn’t change drastically. Instead, the proportions should remain pretty similar, just like the size. Speaking of the size, the current model features around 121 inches in wheelbase, so we presume that the new model will be pretty similar.  We presume, the new model will look bolder and more aggressive, while some sources also suggest a special version with various off-road and visual upgrades.

Interior

One of the things we really like about the outgoing model is the interior design. The current generation utilizes high-quality materials and features pretty impressive build quality. However, it’s been around for 13 years, so it’s obvious it started to look outdated, despite the updates we saw a few years ago, with new tech features and other things.

So, the new model should bring notable improvements in this aspect. We expect to see a modern dashboard design, in combination with modern tech features and even nicer materials.

We already mentioned that the new generation probably wouldn’t feature significant changes in terms of dimensions, so the amount of passenger space shouldn’t change either. Of course, three rows of seats will be standard and all three should offer enough room to accommodate adults. The same thing is for the cargo area, which should offer a similar volume, but with a little bit better organization and more storage compartments, and an increased overall level of practicality.

2024 Nissan Patrol Engine

One of the biggest novelties of this redesign should be the new powertrain. From what we know so far, it is an almost certain thing that the current V8 will be discontinued. Although pretty capable, this engine is also very thirsty and can’t exactly compete with more modern rivals, including the Land Cruiser, which now features a twin-turbo V6.

So, we presume that the new 2024 Nissan Patrol will feature a twin-turbo V6 as well. Some sources speculate about a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, while other sources suggest that Nissan could upgrade its new 3.8-liter V6, which is currently available in a naturally-aspirated variant in the new Frontier.

In any case, the new engine should offer competitive power and torque. In numbers, that would be at least 400 horsepower and at least 450 pound-feet of torque. Also, we believe that the new engine will come in paired with a more modern 9-speed automatic gearbox, instead of the current 7-speed unit.
