2021 Cadillac Escalade Redesign: Changes, Specs, Features

2021 Cadillac Escalade featured

The new generation of the legendary luxury SUV is here and it brings a full load of novelties. The fifth iteration of the nameplate gets a complete overhaul. It includes a completely new platform, as well as completely new aesthetics. The first thing you can notice is that the 2021 Cadillac Escalade is more luxurious than its predecessor, but it also comes with all kinds of technical improvements as well.

On the other side, the powertrain lineup seems kinda familiar. One of the two engines in the offer carried from the previous generation. On the other side, the new engine in the offer is an oil-burnet, so the 2021 Cadillac Escalade is actually an SUV that comes in two versions with completely different characters. We already know the price and it will start around 77.000 dollars. On the other side, fully-loaded versions will cost significantly more. We expect that the new model will go on sale sometime in the second half of the year.

2021 Cadillac Escalade Redesign

Of course, the most important part of the redesign is a completely new platform. As you may presume, the new 2021 Cadillac Escalade adopts the new T1 architecture, the same that underprints new Silverado, Tahoe, Yukon, Suburban etc. Therefore, you may count on the same kinds of improvements, including a notable weight reduction that goes up to 300 pounds, depending on the version you choose. Another important novelty of this redesign is the addition of independent rear suspension, which will be standard across the whole range. Such a layout will definitely provide a much better driving experience and comfort, and finally make this SUV competitive with the biggest rival, Lincoln Navigator.

Exterior

Naturally, the most notable changes are always those in terms of the exterior design. Of course, styling is the thing that comes to mind first. Before we get to aesthetics, we should mention that the new model is notably bigger compared to the previous generation. The new model gains almost 5 inches in wheelbase, so it’s not hard to conclude that the amount of interior space will be notably bigger. This particularly refers to the third row of seats, which is quite tight in the current model.

Of course, the 2021 Cadillac Escalade comes with completely new aesthetics. The first impression is that the new generation looks significantly better than its predecessor. You can easily notice a lot of influence from the Escala concept, while the whole front face comes in a pretty conventional manner, which is mixed with sharp and modern design solutions pretty well. The rest of the vehicle continued in a pretty typical SUV manner, with a long wagon layout. The long-wheelbase version is expected in the near future as well.

Interior

Another aspect where the new 2021 Cadillac Escalade brings significant improvements. Just one look at the new dashboard and it becomes obvious that the new model is all about technology. Without any doubt, the part of the cabin that draws the most attention is that touchscreen section, which consists of three screens with a total diagonal of 38 inches. There are actually three touchscreens integrated into a single identity. Of course, the one on the right, which is also the biggest, is reserved for the infotainment system, while the other two serve as the instrument cluster and driver information displays. Another thing we should mention is an obvious improvement in terms of materials’ quality and aesthetics. Also, everything looks even more opulent once you realize that you can get up to  36 speakers. GM’s advanced Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system is standard across the whole range.

2021 Cadillac Escalade Engines

When it comes to the powertrain, standard models will carry on with a familiar 6.2-liter V8 engine, which comes without any change. So, the max output remains the same as well. This means you may count on about 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, which is the amount of power that ensures pretty amazing driving dynamics. GM promises improvements in terms of fuel economy. Still, we doubt we will see much higher ratings compared to the outgoing model that returns around 17 mpg combined.

A great thing for those who look for something more efficient is that the new 2021 Cadillac Escalade will be available in diesel version as well. It will come with a familiar 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel, which delivers around 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.

Both engines come in pairs with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

2021 Cadillac Escalade Release Date and Price

We expect that the new 2021 Cadillac Escalade will hit the market sometime in the second half of the year. When it comes to the price, base models will go around 77.500 dollars, while the range-topping models will definitely go over 100.000 dollars.
