2021 Honda Passport Changes, Colors, Black Edition, Canada, Features

The familiar name from the 90s came back a few years ago, after a pretty long hiatus. The new model doesn’t have too many things in common with the original and it comes as a modern crossover. It is a well-designed machine, which has a lot of great things to offer. As we are talking about a two –year old design, it makes perfect sense to see no bigger changes for the next year. Still, there is one significant novelty, as an 8-inch touchscreen becomes a standard feature. Other than that, the 2021 Honda Passport continues in the same way.

This means you may count on a crossover that is practical and fun to drive at the same time. It offers a spacious cabin in a combination of good handling and a powerful V6 engine. Of course, it isn’t without drawbacks, so some drivers won’t like a couple of quirky controls, as well as not so impressive fuel economy.

2021 Honda Passport Redesign

When it comes to base design characteristics, the next year definitely won’t bring any particular changes. We are about to see a familiar layout, which has a lot in common with the three-row Pilot, as well as with the unibody Ridgeline pickup. Still, the chassis setup is a little bit different compared to the three-row sibling. Not only that this model is shorter, but it also features a notably different suspension setup, so the ride feels a little bit sportier, thanks to a more precise handling and some notable weight reduction.

In terms of the styling, the 2021 Honda Passport won’t feature any change. Even the list of colors remains untouched. So, you may count on a styling that closely sticks to the brand’s contemporary design language. The front end is nearly identical to the Pilot, while the overall shape comes in a typical SUV manner, with more than decent ground clearance.

Interior

On the inside, the 2021 Honda Passport will continue to be a typical Honda. The dashboard doesn’t look particularly impressive. This Japanese manufacturer likes to keep things simple, but that doesn’t mean that the quality is subpar. Moreover, the is a well-built cabin with nice materials, definitely among the most solid interiors in the class.

Still, the main thing about this cabin is space and practicality. Both rows are generous with leg and headroom, while we also like the shape of front seats. The visibility is good in all directions, while the amount of storage areas is pretty satisfying. Like any other Honda, this one also features pretty impressive cargo volume for the class it belongs to. You may count on up to 50.5 cubic feet behind the second row and up to 100 cubic feet of the overall cargo volume, which sounds pretty impressive for a two-row mid-size crossover.

Features

The biggest novelty for the 2021 Honda Passport comes in the form of new features. Starting from this model year, Honda finally includes an 8-inch touchscreen to the list of standard equipment. The list of standard features also includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The rest is pretty familiar. So, all models come equipped with remote start, push-button start, proximity keyless entry, and tri-zone automatic climate control, 7-speaker stereo etc. In higher trim levels, you can also get goodies like navigation, a 10-speaker stereo, satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, two additional USB ports, wireless device charging, and a 115-volt household-style power outlet.

The list of safety features is also impressive. All models come standard with goodies like lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, road departure mitigation, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking and many more.

2021 Honda Passport Engine

Under the hood, the 2021 Honda Passport continues in the same way. This means you may count on a well-known 3.5-liter V6 engine, which puts out around 280 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The power is sent to either front or all wheels, via a 9-speed automatic transmission. The overall ride quality is pretty impressive. Dynamics are good, while gear changes are smooth.

On the other side, fuel economy could be better. It’s not bad, but it’s not great either. You may count on about 20 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. Those are average numbers for the class.

2021 Honda Passport Price

When it comes to the price, the 2021 Honda Passport features a relatively high tag for the segment. It starts around 33.000 dollars, which is a little bit more compared to competitors like Ford Edge, Hyundai Santa Fe, Chevy Blazer etc.
