2021 Infiniti QX60 Redesign: What We Know So Far

2021 Infiniti QX60 featured

Nissan’s luxury division has been struggling for years to make some decent sales numbers and it desperately needs fresh models. We’ve already seen the brand-new QX55 and now it’s time for the redesign of the mid-size QX60. The Pathfinder-based crossover has been around since 2013 and it’s never been particularly competitive in the segment where you can find models like Lexus RX, Acura MDX, or more expensive BMW X5. Today, the current generation looks really old and a good thing is that the 2021 Infiniti QX60 is coming completely redesigned.

The new generation has been previewed recently by the QX60 Monograph concept and we presume that the production version won’t be significantly different. We know pretty much everything about the styling, while the interior design photos have been leaked. On the other side, we are still waiting for some info about specs and other technical details. The new model should hit the market sometime in the first quarter of 2021.

2021 Infiniti QX60 Redesign

In the eyes of Infiniti lovers, this redesign seems so much needed. Simply, the current generation doesn’t seem competitive in nearly any aspect. So, expectations from the 2021 Infiniti QX60 are pretty big. At this point, we most familiar with the styling, which was presented with the QX60 Monograph concept. The production model won’t feature too many changes and we count on generally the same styling, which makes this large SUV look much more attractive. While the new model keeps typical Infiniti-sleek lines, everything seems sharper than before. The grille larger, the headlights are narrower, while the roof comes blacked. All these things make the new model look more aggressive than before.

On the other side, technical specification is still a mystery. We still don’t know whether the new model is about to ride on an updated D platform, or we are about to see something new, though the first option looks more likely. When it comes to the size, we don’t know the details either. Still, we presume that changes won’t be that significant. The current model measures around 114.2 inches in wheelbase.

Interior

While the exterior design has been a well-known thing for a while, the Japanese manufacturer keeps details about the interior. Still, our spy photographers managed to take a couple of spy shots that clearly show the new, partially-camouflaged dashboard. From what we can see on these shots is that the 2021 Infiniti QX60 will look much better from the inside than before. We can clearly see that the dashboard looks pretty clean, with loads of horizontal lines and some pretty fine-looking materials. The dash is highlighted by a large and wide, tablet-like touchscreen, while climate controls remain physical. Also, there is a new gear shifter, which looks much fancier now.

When it comes to seating configuration, we don’t expect changes. The 2021 Infiniti QX60 should remain a perfect family hauler, which isn’t just luxurious but also quite practical. Three rows of seats will be standard, and all three should offer a sufficient amount of passenger room, even the third one. The cargo area should offer some pretty respectable numbers too.

2021 Infiniti QX60 Engine

When it comes to powertrain, the company still keeps details a secret. Still, we presume that the current 3.5-liter V6 will probably be replaced with something smaller and more efficient, though we have to say that this V6 is pretty efficient for its size. Most likely, base models will come with a familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four from the QX50, which features variable compression and delivers a total output of 268 horsepower.

Most likely, this won’t be the only engine in the offer. Allegedly, Infiniti wants to make this crossover less dull and sportier, so an optional turbocharged V6 seems like a perfect choice. We count on both 300- and 400-hp versions.

2021 Infiniti QX60 Release Date and Price

According to the latest reports, the 2021 Infiniti QX60 will arrive sometime in the first quarter of 2021. The exact price is still unknown but we expect that the new model will cost a little bit more compared to the current generation, which starts around 45.000 dollars. When it comes to competition, key rivals will be Japanese premium crossovers like Lexus RX and Acura MDX but the new QX60 could also seem like a great, more practical alternative to German premium crossovers like BMW X5.
