2022 Chevy Avalanche: Rumors and Expectations

If we consider that the segment of pickup trucks is becoming more and more popular every year, it’s no wonder that we can hear a lot of rumors about the 2022 Chevy Avalanche comeback. The well-known nameplate was in use for nearly 12 years, between 2001 and 2013. Initially, sales numbers were pretty good but the interest in this model started to go down along with the arrival of the 2008 economic crisis. These days, it looks like we could see it on the road again, in a completely new iteration.

At this point, the 2022 Chevy Avalanche is just a rumor, so it’s hard to say anything more specific. Still, that doesn’t mean we can’t speculate about this comeback, which would bring a model that mixes luxury and utility in a completely new way. Allegedly, the new model could arrive already in the next year but we suggest you to take everything you’re about to read in the following paragraph with a big reserve.

2022 Chevy Avalanche Design

When it comes to base design characteristics, this comeback definitely wouldn’t bring any surprises. Once again, we would see a pickup truck layout, heavily based on the Suburban. Compared to Silverado, which is a typical full-size pickup truck, it would feature a lot of differences. It will be more like an SUV in terms of mechanics. This particularly refers to the suspension setup, which would be less rigid and more passenger-oriented. We presume it would be the same as in the legendary full-size SUV, which would include an independent rear suspension as well. We can only imagine how big an impact this would have on the overall comfort.

Exterior

When it comes to the exterior design, we also wouldn’t expect to see any surprise. The 2022 Chevy Avalanche would feature a familiar design approach. This means a pickup layout, but heavily based on the Suburban. Compared to Silverado, the wheelbase would be notably shorter, while the cargo bed would be relatively small. Simply, it would replace Suburban’s third row of seats and cargo area.

The rest of the vehicle, the front part in particular, would look pretty much the same. This particularly refers to the front end, which would utilize the same design language, characterized by a massive grille, new headlights and other details that make new Chevy models look pretty attractive. Naturally, we would leave room for some exclusive details as well, though we wouldn’t expect to see too many of them.

Interior

Of course, the obvious difference compared to the SUV sibling would be the lack of the third row and cargo area. On the other side, the rest of the cabin would probably remain the same, which means we would see two very spacious rows of seats, with more than 40 inches of legroom and the ability to accommodate adults with ease.

The dashboard design would remain the same as well. This means a rather modern and nicely designed dash, which features pretty fine materials and good overall quality. Naturally, we count on the same amount of standard and available tech and convenience features as well.

2022 Chevy Avalanche Engines

While the rest of the design could bring some modifications and exclusive details, this aspect will definitely bring no surprises. We expect Chevy to offer this pickup in three variants when it comes to the powertrain. Of course, base models would feature a 5.3-liter V8, which puts out around 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Of course, there is a bigger, 6.2-liter V8 as well. This one is good for about 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.

Finally, we presume that the new 2022 Chevy Avalanche would come in a diesel variant as well, equipped with a 3.0-liter V6, which features a max output of 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. All three engines would come in pair with a 10-speed Allison transmission.

2022 Chevy Avalanche Release Date and Price

As we already mentioned, rumors suggest that the 2022 Chevy Avalanche could come back already in the next year. Still, keep in mind that the officials are still quiet about this truck and that the actual chances to see it are pretty small. If it arrives, our rough estimation is that the base model would go around 50.000 dollars.
