2022 Ford Courier Pickup Rumors and Expectations

2022 Ford Courier Rendering

We are living in the era of old nameplate revivals, so it’s no wonder that another familiar moniker is about to come if we can trust the latest reports. This time, it’s about the 2022 Ford Courier, which will come back to the U.S. market but will be offered in other parts of the world. According to rumors, this will be the smallest pickup in the company’s offer, designed primarily as a commercial vehicle. Still, that doesn’t mean we won’t see its passenger-oriented iterations as well.

In any case, would be a more than useful addition to the company’s lineup. It would be a unibody pickup truck, with all the benefits that such a design brings. Still, keep in mind that we are still waiting for the official confirmation, so make sure to take the following paragraphs with a reserve. Allegedly, the 2022 Ford Courier could arrive already by the end of this year.

2022 Ford Courier Design

The 2022 Ford Courier will come back to the U.S. market after decades of a break. Therefore, it won’t have too many things in common with its predecessor. It won’t have anything in common with Fiesta-based variants that were sold in Brazil. No, it will come with a completely new design.

The first thing that comes to mind is the mechanical aspect of the pickup. As we already mentioned, this will be a unibody pickup truck and we expect it will share most of its parts with the Escape. The popular compact crossover has so many great things to offer and there is no doubt that the new 2022 Ford Courier will benefit from that.

Visually, we expect a design that goes on a fine line between a classic truck and a coupe/ute layout but the actual design language is still a little bit unclear. While sharing the front end with the Escape would sound natural, we could also see a more rugged approach, with a design philosophy similar to the new Bronco Sport or the upcoming Ranger. In any case, more details should come in the near future.

Interior

While the exterior design may seem like a mystery, we are pretty sure that that won’t be the case with the inside of this pickup. Instead, the Blue Oval company would rather stick with proven design solutions and offer a dashboard that isn’t particularly different from the one in the popular compact crossover. Of course, everything would be toned down for a bit, in order to cut production costs. So, we would probably see more plastic surfaces and fewer tech goodies.

In terms of cabin configuration, we count on both single and double cab layouts, with different bed sizes in the offer.

2022 Ford Courier Engine

This aspect shouldn’t bring any surprise and once again, the 2022 Ford Courier should share most with the Escape. That means we would see a familiar 1.5-liter engine with 180 horsepower in standard models. On the other side, the most expensive variants could easily come with a bigger 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 250 horsepower. Both engines come in pairs with 8-speed automatic transmission.

Of course, we won’t exclude the possibility to see some other engines in the offer too. As we are talking about commercial vehicles, diesel versions in some parts of the world also seem quite possible, as well as a manual gearbox.

2022 Ford Courier Release Date and Price

As we already mentioned, some reports suggest this pickup could arrive already by the end of this year, despite that the officials are still quiet. If it arrives, we expect that base versions will be quite affordable, with the starting price of around 20.000 dollars.
