2023 Chevrolet Traverse Preview: Redesign, Price, Changes, Release Date

Chevy’s large crossover has finally received a facelift, after a couple of delays. The new model looks better from every angle and that’s a clear indicator that the current generation is about to remain in production for some more time. This also means that the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse will come without more important changes. Still, don’t exclude the possibility to see minor updates like new color options, new standard features and similar things.

In any case, the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse will continue in the same way. We are about to see a familiar design, which has a lot of great things to offer. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is the tremendous amount of space, but we also like the infotainment system. Furthermore, the V6 engine feels pretty capable, while the ride is smooth and relaxed.

Considering that there are no significant changes to come, we presume that the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse will arrive sometime in the last quarter of the year.

2023 Chevrolet Traverse Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2022 model came with a lot of updates. It received a facelift, so we have no doubt that the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse will be a typical carryover model. Of course, it will continue with all the novelties that were introduced with the current model, starting from the new front end that includes a new grille, new lower fascia, front bumper etc.

Mechanically, we didn’t see bigger changes with this update. The Traverse features pretty much the same suspension setup, which provides a smooth and relaxed drive. As you may presume, this model rides on the C1 platform, which means it’s an FWD car, though the AWD version is available too. In any case, the handling isn’t particularly engaging, so those who are looking for something sportier should probably consider some of the RWD rivals, such as Ford Explorer and Jeep Grand Cherokee, which are both more fun to drive.

Interior

Once again, we don’t expect to see bigger changes. So, the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse will continue with the same cabin design, which offers plenty of passenger space. With nearly 121 inches in wheelbase, it’s quite obvious that this SUV has enough room to install three rows of seats. What’s more important, the third row is pretty generous with space and pretty functional, which isn’t usually the case with three-row crossovers.

The cargo area is also very generous with space. You may count on about 23 cubic feet behind the third row, 57.8 cubic feet of space behind the second row and 98.2 cubic feet of the total cargo volume. Those are some of the best ratings in the class.

However, this cabin isn’t without flaws. While there is plenty of space, the build quality could be better. This is particularly indicative in terms of materials, as there are numerous areas covered with hard plastics and other low-rent materials

Features

A couple of new things on the list of standard equipment will probably come but we have no doubt that most of the features will remain the same as in the current model. Therefore, base models will come standard with goodies like a tri-zone climate control, keyless entry, push-button start, a 7-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite radio, a six-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, six USB ports, and a Wi-Fi hot spot. The list of options should include goodies like an 8-inch touch screen, navigation, wireless device charging, and a 10-speaker stereo, as well as remote start, a panoramic sunroof, and a 120-volt household-style power outlet.

When it comes to safety, all models should come standard with driver aids like a rearview camera, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, automatic high beams etc. Among upgrades, expect to find parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, surround-view camera, adaptive cruise control etc.

2023 Chevrolet Traverse Engines

We have no doubt that the 2023 Chevrolet Traverse will continue with the same 3.6-liter V6 engine, which features a max output of 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. The engine comes in pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission, which does a pretty good job. The whole system feels capable and refined, and most drivers should be happy with this powertrain. As we already mentioned, front-wheel drive is standard, while AWD models are available.

When it comes to fuel economy, you may count on about 18 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway, which are typical ratings for the class. Of course, models with all-wheel drive are slightly thirstier.

2023 Chevrolet Traverse Release Date and Price

We expect to see 2023 Chevrolet Traverse sometime in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 35.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like Ford Explorer, Toyota Highlander etc.
