2023 Chevy Tahoe Preview: Changes, Specs, SS, Release Date

2023 Chevy Tahoe

The current generation of Chevy’s full-size SUV has just been introduced. It has brought a lot of significant novelties and improvements and we already know that the second production year (2022 model) won’t feature any notable change. On the other hand, we are already hearing reports about the 2023 Chevy Tahoe, which suggest we could see some interesting novelties, particularly in terms of a new performance version. Other than that, things should remain untouched for some more time.

The potential novelties won’t bring changes regarding overall design characteristics. Therefore, you may count on an SUV that has a lot of great things to offer, starting from a spacious and quiet cabin, a long list of standard and available equipment, capable engine options etc. However, there are still few things we don’t like about it, especially in terms of the interior quality and ergonomics.

We expect that the 2023 Chevy Tahoe will hit the market sometime in the second half of 2022.

2023 Chevy Tahoe Redesign

As we’ve just mentioned, even if some novelties come, we are pretty sure that the overall design of the 2023 Chevy Tahoe will remain the same. In other words, you may count on the same SUV that has been completely redesigned last year, which now rides on the new T1 platform. Compared to the previous generation, it is notably lighter and it rides much better. Also, there is a new styling, which may have a little bit polarizing front end, but which generally looks pretty attractive.

When it comes to the possible novelties, some sources suggest we could see a performance version. There’s a chance to see the famous “SS” badge once again, and such a version would come with all kinds of upgrades, starting from a stiffer suspension, lower ground clearance, bigger brakes etc. Of course, we would also see a couple of styling details that accentuate the model’s performance character.

On the other hand, drivers who like off-road-oriented SUVs won’t see many novelties. We presume that the Z71 model will remain pretty much untouched, with familiar features like four-wheel drive, upgraded suspension, heavy-duty filter, skid plates, two-speed transfer case etc.

Interior

The recent redesign has brought a lot of improvements on the inside. The new model is bigger and offers way more passenger space than before. For the first time, the Tahoe features the third row that’s actually very usable and can accommodate adults passengers. The cargo area is one of the most impressive things about this SUV. You may count on about 25.5 cubic feet of space behind the third row, 72.6 cubic feet behind the second row, and a total of 122.9 cubic feet in total, which is way more than you get from rivals like Ford Expedition.

On the other hand, the overall interior quality isn’t that impressive. The cabin definitely looks attractive, but we feel there are too many areas with low-rent materials for a vehicle at this price range.

Features

We have no doubt that the 2023 Tahoe will come with some novelties in terms of standard and available equipment, but most of the things should remain the same as in the current model. So, base models should feature goodies like a 10.2-inch touch screen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, six USB ports, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a six-speaker sound system, satellite radio, HD Radio, dual-zone climate control, keyless entry etc. More expensive models will be available with upgrades like a sunroof, navigation, a rear-seat entertainment system with two 12.6-inch touch screens and Wi-Fi capability, wireless device charging, and a nine-or 10-speaker Bose stereo etc.

2023 Chevy Tahoe Engines

Under the hood, things will remain the same, at least when it comes to standard models. So, base models will continue with a good-old 5.3-liter V8, which puts out around 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Of course, you may count on a bigger 6.2-liter V8 as well, which is good for about 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Finally, there is a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel, which puts out around 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. All three engines come in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

As we’ve just mentioned, there is a chance to see a performance version in the offer as well. Some sources suggest it could come with the legendary SS badge, as well as with a more powerful version of the 6.2-liter engine. That would be a version with a supercharger, with a max output of around 650 horsepower. At this point, the officials are still quiet on this matter.

2023 Chevy Tahoe Release Date and Price

We expect to see the 2023 Chevy Tahoe sometime in the second half of 2022. Base models should go somewhere around 50.000 dollars.
