2024 Toyota C-HR Redesign: What To Expect

2024 Toyota C-HR featured

When the current generation of Toyota’s subcompact crossover was introduced back in 2016, it amazed the world with its attractive look. However, soon after we became aware of many drawbacks that characterize this crossover. Simply, other aspects of the vehicle didn’t follow the amazing styling. The performance was underwhelming, the interior space was subpar and the fuel economy was below average. Hopefully, this will change soon, as the all-new 2024 Toyota C-HR has been announced.

The new model is expected to arrive by the end of this year and we have big expectations from it. The test mule has been spotted, while the C-HR Prologue Concept was presented a few months ago. We expect to see an aggressive exterior design once again but combined with significant improvements regarding ride quality, powertrain and refinement. From what we know so far, the Japanese manufacturer is also planning some interesting novelties in terms of powertrain.

2024 Toyota C-HR Redesign

The current generation has been around for about seven years and it’s about time to see a new model. A good thing is that the test mule has been spotted on the road, which clearly indicates that the development is in an advanced stage. On the other hand, the test model still wears complete camouflage, so it’s hard to tell more about the aesthetics.

On the other hand, the company presented a C-HR Prologue concept recently, so we may know the direction of the new model’s styling. Of course, it’s still early to say if some of the interesting design solutions are about to carry into serial productions but it’s good to know that the new generation will also feature an aggressive design, with lots of sharp lines and a coupe-like rear-end design. The concept also introduced a couple of interesting details, such as pop-up door handles, though we are not sure if the production model will feature them as well.

Interior

The interior design is still a mystery. Still, we may presume that the new model won’t be much more spacious. Instead, we count on a similar amount of passenger space, which would mean a relatively tight second row and cargo area that isn’t particularly generous. On the other hand, the front seats should be spacious and comfortable.

Toyota engineers have a lot of things to improve because the current generation doesn’t impress at all. Of course, we count on a new, more attractive dashboard design, as well as much nicer materials. We also count on much better sound insulation, which is currently one of the biggest drawbacks. Furthermore, new tech goodies are also expected, including new infotainment system, new connectivity features etc.

2024 Toyota C-HR Engines

Big novelties are expected under the hood as well. From what we know so far, the new model won’t go all-electric. That role will be left for a brand-new subcompact SUV that is about to arrive in the near future. On the other hand, we don’t believe that the 2024 Toyota C-HR could be offered with a pure gasoline powertrain either. Instead, a hybrid powertrain seems like a sweet spot. Most likely, we will see not just a classic hybrid setup, but a plug-in hybrid as well.

The former will probably be some of the familiar setups, including the current one, based on a 2.0-liter engine, with a max output of around 180 horsepower. On the other hand, the PHEV would probably come with a completely new system.

2024 Toyota C-HR Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2024 Toyota C-HR could arrive by the end of this year, with a starting price of around 25.000 dollars. Some of the potential competitors are models like Honda HR-V, VW Taos, Buick Encore GX etc.
