2022 Honda HR-V

The new HR-V is almost there. It has been in Japan since February, while the European version has just been presented. Now, we are waiting for the North American version, which could come sometime in the first half of the next year. The new design brings a lot of improvements and we are eagerly waiting to see it on the North American roads as well.

From what we have seen from the new model, changes are coming in every aspect. Of course, styling is the first thing that can be noticed and it looks much cleaner than before. Of course, we will see a lot of novelties in terms of mechanics as well, including new powertrain options. Interestingly, dimensions will remain pretty similar to the outgoing model. The European model came with a new Hybrid setup, but we presume that the US version will come in a standard gasoline version as well.

This redesign brings a lot of novelties and improvements compared to the outgoing version. Of course, the most notable is the new styling, which looks way better than before. Honda has presented a completely new design language and things look way cleaner than before. Interestingly, dimensions are pretty similar to the current model, while the wheelbase has remained the same.

Although details are yet to come, we count on novelties in terms of mechanics as well. We presume Honda will tweaks the suspension, in order to provide a slightly better driving experience, even though the current model stands pretty well in this aspect.

Interior

Some of the biggest changes will happen on the inside. From what we can see on the photos, the new dashboard looks much cleaner than before. It’s not overdesigned or too simple. It looks like Honda has found a sweet spot. It looks clean and well organized, while there are also numerous tech goodies that make it look even nicer.

For example, there is a new 9-inch touchscreen, while the instrument cluster includes a 7-inch display as well. Of course, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay should be standard as well, while things like wireless charging pad, touch-activated cabin lights, and a premium audio system with an amplifier will be optional.

Considering that the overall size will remain pretty similar to the previous generation, we also count on a similar amount of passenger and cargo space. That’s definitely a good thing, considering that the current generation is among class leaders in this aspect.

2022 Honda HR-V Engines

The European version was presented with a hybrid powertrain. It consists of a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and a couple of electric motors. We still don’t know the exact numbers, but the two electric motors will feature combined output of 131 horsepower. These two units will spin the wheels most of the time, while the gasoline engine will act mostly as a generator. However, the full hybrid model that includes both sources of power will be available too. We presume that this version could be offered in North America as well.

Also, we believe that this won’t be the only powertrain option in the U.S. We also count on a pure gasoline version, which would probably replace the current 1.8-liter engine with a more powerful 1.5-liter turbo-four from Civic. Most likely, CVT will remain the only transmission in the offer.

2022 Honda HR-V Release Date and Price

The new 2022 Honda HR-V will probably come to North America sometime in the first half of the next year. When it comes to the price, we don’t expect that base models could cost significantly higher compared to the current version, which starts at around 22.500 dollars. The competition in this segment is extremely tough. Some of the potential rivals could be models like Subaru Crosstrek, Toyota C-HR, Nissan Kicks etc.
