Recently, the Modena-based automaker announced that the two redesigned model will come this summer. The facelifted 2021 Maserati Levante and Quattroporte. Earlier, we had a chance to see the Levante during the winter testings in northern Sweden. The strange thing is that the prototype hasn’t any camouflage. Still, we didn’t notice some significant exterior changes.
The design department will definitely make some changes, but they will probably be minor. But, according to Maserati’s reports, the biggest changes will occur under the hood of the upcoming model. What we can see from the photos, it looks like this testing mule will be a range-topping variant – the Levante Trofeo. The main goal of these updates is to keep the Levante fresh until the full redesign, which is scheduled for 2022 or 2023. The updated models will enter production in the summer.
2021 Maserati Levante Changes
Well, design-wise the spotted prototype doesn’t look very different than the current version, But, let us believe that the company will introduce some unique features when the 2021 Maserati Levante enters the production. The customers can expect changes on the front bumper. Also, the taillights could get a new design as well. But, the most important changes will happen inside the engine room, and in the cabin.
The dash gets a cloth cover, while the fully-digital cluster and the updated infotainment will be the focal points of the new interior. Moreover, there will be some minor updates such as new upholstery, and additional trim options. The Levante might come with a remodeled grille and headlights too. But, we must wait until the summer to see what the Italian carmaker is prepared.
The forthcoming 2021 Maserati Levante will use a 4.0-liter V8 gasoline engine and the AWD system as a standard option. The V6 mill produces 582 hp. But, we still don’t know if this unit is reserved for the Trofeo version, or for the base model. According to the reports, the Trofeo model will discharge the Ferrari-built 3.8-liter twin-turbo powertrain, which powers the current model. Well, the Maserati will decide which unit will power the upcoming models, since the contract with Maranello-based carmaker expires soon.
At the moment, there’s still a possibility that Maserati renews a contract with Ferrari. However, most likely the famous automaker will stop shipping engines for the Maserati in 2021, or in early 2022. Furthermore, the Maranello-based company has no plan to supply any other carmaker with its engines. Maserati powers its models with Ferrari engines since 2002. At the moment, you can find 3.0-liter twin-turbo, 4.7-liter naturally aspirated V8 and a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 mill in Maserati’s vehicles. Well. it remains a mystery from where will Modena-based automakers will source engines if they don’t renew the contract with long-time partners.

2021 Maserati Levante will enter production in July. Still, the new, updated model will arrive in the dealerships in the second of 2021. The starting price of the base model is still unknown. But, taking into account the price of the ongoing model, we expect that the new model will come close to the $80,000 range. Of course, Trofeo will have a significantly higher price.
