The sporty SUV has been around for a while but we don’t expect to see any significant changes for the next year. According to the latest reports, the 2022 Alfa Romeo Stelvio will be mostly a carryover model, with same exterior and interior designs. On the other hand, we will see novelties in terms of trim level organization, as the new Veloce trim is about to be introduced. It will replace the Ti Sport trim but probably won’t feature significant differences in terms of features. The powertrain department will certainly remain the same.
All in all, you may count on a familiar layout. This crossover offers an excellent driving experience, which is all about sporty ride. It also looks great and has a lot of that Italian sports car flavor. On the other hand, the interior quality could be better, while the cargo area is among the smallest in the class.
We expect to see 2022 Alfa Romeo Stelvio on sale sometime late in the year.
2022 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Redesign
As we’ve just mentioned, the overall design will remain the same. The 2022 Alfa Romeo Stelvio will continue with the same layout. It has a lot in common with the Giulia sedan. Of course, this is a crossover so it can’t offer the same level of driving dynamics. Still, if we compare it with rivals, there are few models that can match Stelvio’s sportiness, especially when it comes to handling. As the suspension setup is all about sporty ride, you may presume that ride can be firm sometimes.
Styling-wise, there is always a chance to see minor updates like new color options. On the other hand, the overall design will certainly remain the same. The is one of the best-looking models in the class, characterized by incredibly smooth lines, which stand out from the crowd that is mostly about sharp angles.
On the inside, this SUV offers an attractive layout. The dashboard looks particularly sporty, though we have a couple of complaints. Although everything looks great, the fact is that the overall quality isn’t at the level you would expect from a luxury SUV. While most materials are good, the fit and finish should definitely be better. This Alfa Romeo is nowhere near German rivals regarding interior quality.
The 2022 Alfa Romeo Stelvio won’t be too practical either. Moreover, the cargo area is way below average. It offers just around 18.5 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats and 56.5 cubic feet of total volume. Furthermore, the second row should be more spacious, while the front seats are notably firmer compared to ones found in rivals. It’s great in terms of support during sporty ride, but may be a big drawback during long journeys.
When it comes to features, the biggest novelty is definitely a new trim level called Veloce. It will replace the Ti Sport trim, but most of the features will remain the same. You may count on things like paddle shifters, a limited slip rear differential, and a sport-tuned suspension, while the biggest addition will probably be Alcantara leather from the Quadrifoglio model.
The rest of the lineup should continue without more important changes. Therefore, base models should come standard with goodies like dual-zone climate control, remote start, an 8.8-inch touch screen, an eight-speaker stereo, satellite radio, Bluetooth, five USB ports, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Higher trim levels also offer goodies like a dual-pane sunroof, navigation, wireless device charging, HD Radio, a 10-speaker stereo, and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon stereo.
When it comes to safety, all models should come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and rear parking sensors.
2022 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Engines
Things under the hood will definitely remain the same. Therefore, standard models will continue with a familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four, which is good for about 280 horsepower. It offers pretty good driving dynamics and will certainly satisfy most drivers. On the other hand, the Quadrifoglio version comes with a 2.9-liter V6, which puts out around 505 horsepower and offers incredible performances. Both engines come in pair with 8-speed automatic transmission.
When it comes to fuel economy, the base engine returns around 22 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. On the other hand, the optional V6 returns around 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.
What’s also important to know is that Quadrifoglio comes with upgrades like a torque-vectoring rear differential, high-performance tires, and upgraded Brembo brakes.
2022 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Release Date and Price
