2023 Cadillac XT6: Still Early For Mid-Cycle Refresh

2023 Cadillac XT6

Cadillac’s mid-size luxury crossover has been around for a little bit more than two years and the 2023 Cadillac XT6 will represent the fourth production year of the generation. Therefore, it’s no wonder that we can hear rumors about possible updates. However, the officials are still quiet and that indicates that a mid-cycle refresh won’t happen. On the other hand, we won’t exclude the possibility to see minor updates. This could refer to new color options, more standard features and similar things.

We are about to see a familiar design, which has several good things to offer. We like the XT6’s attractive styling, spacious and comfortable cabin, intuitive infotainment system, long list of standard and available equipment etc. On the other hand, the main complaints go to things like underpowered engines, not-so-engaging handling and subpar interior quality.

As there are no significant changes to come for the next year, we presume that the 2023 Cadillac XT6 will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year.

2023 Cadillac XT6 Design

Design-wise, the 2023 Cadillac XT6 won’t change at all. We are about to see a familiar design, which is based on GM’s familiar C1 platform, the same one that underpins models like GMC Acadia. Therefore, we are talking about an FWD layout. This may be one of the reasons why this SUV isn’t as fun to drive as most rivals, including the Lincoln Aviator. Things are a little bit better in versions with all-wheel drive.

Visually, there is nothing to complain about. This SUV takes a lot of inspiration from the Escala concept and comes with sharp and aggressive lines, which makes it one of the better-looking models in the class. Therefore, we don’t expect bigger changes for the next year. Eventually, we could see some new color options on the offer.

Interior

Once again, expect no bigger changes. The 2023 Cadillac XT6 will continue with the same cabin design, which looks nice, but not as nice as rivals. The materials are fine but most competitors look more opulent. The same thing could be said for the build quality and attention to detail. On the other hand, the amount of tech features is pretty generous and there is nothing to complain about in this aspect.

2023 Cadillac XT6 Interior

The XT6 stands pretty strong in terms of interior space. The front seats are very spacious and very comfortable. Furthermore, it’s pretty easy to find a great driving position. Ergonomics are great, as well as the visibility in all directions. The second row is as spacious and accommodates adults with ease. On the other hand, the third row is typically tight for the segment.

The cargo volume behind the third row is 12.6 cubic feet, which isn’t spectacular. On the other hand, 43.1 cubic feet behind the second row and 78.7 cubic feet of the total cargo volume are some of the highest ratings in the class.

Features

Although a few novelties are always possible, we are pretty sure that most of the things are about to remain the same. Therefore, all models should come standard with goodies like tri-zone climate control, sunroof, an 8-inch touch screen, an eight-speaker Bose audio system, satellite radio, six USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The list of options should include goodies like a digital gauge cluster, a Bose 14-speaker audio system, wireless device charging etc.

The same thing is with safety features. So, base models should come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, safety alert seat, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert. The list of options should include a head-up display, adaptive cruise control, reverse automatic emergency braking, surround-view camera, park assist etc.

2023 Cadillac XT6 Engines

The 2023 Cadillac XT6 will carry on with two familiar engine options on the offer. Base versions will use a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out 237 horsepower. For those who are looking for something more capable, there is a 3.6-liter V6, which puts out 310 horsepower. Both engines come in pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to the front wheels. All-wheel drive is available too.

When it comes to fuel economy, the base turbo-four returns around 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway, while the V6 returns around 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. Also, keep in mind that the turbo-four requires premium fuel, while the V6 runs on regular gasoline.

2023 Cadillac XT6 Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2023 Cadillac XT6 will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 49.000 dollars. Models like Lincoln Aviator and Genesis GV80 are some of the key competitors.
