2024 GMC Acadia Redesign: What We Know So Far

The current generation of GMC’s mid-size crossover has been around since 2016 and if we consider that the market is way more competitive these days, it’s about time to see some changes. Of course, GMC management is perfectly aware of this, so it’s no wonder that a new generation is on the way. It’s been in development for a while and from what we know so far, it will hit the market in the next year, as the 2024 GMC Acadia.

This redesign will bring a lot of novelties. Of course, we count on improvements in all aspects, but one of the first things we should mention is that the new model will get bigger. It will ride on a new platform, which should improve the ride quality. Naturally, new aesthetics are one of the most important things of this redesign, while we also count on a much nicer interior design. Finally, there is the matter of powertrain, which should also bring some improvements.

We expect that the 2024 GMC Acadia will hit the market sometime in the second half of the next year.

2024 GMC Acadia Redesign

As we’ve just mentioned, this redesign will bring a lot of new things. Of course, the platform is one of the things that come to mind and from what we know, the C1 architecture will be replaced with the new, VSS platform. More precisely, we will see the VSS-F iteration of the platform, which means that the next-generation 2024 GMC Acadia will also feature front-wheel drive, despite the rumors about the RWD layout.

Of course, the new platform will bring a lot of improvements and we particularly think of the ride quality. The current model is reasonably comfortable, but we would expect even more from the new one. Also, we hope that the new model will be more engaging to drive because the outgoing version isn’t particularly fun to drive.

Exterior

The test mule has been spotted a couple of times so far and we can see that it still features complete camouflage. Still, we can see that the overall shape won’t change much, even though it’s for sure that the new generation will get bigger. The new model will feature a longer wheelbase and bigger overall dimensions, but the overall shape shouldn’t be much different.

In terms of aesthetics, it’s still early to talk about details, considering that the test model is still covered. However, we may presume that the front end will take a lot of inspiration from the new Sierra and Yukon models, which means that it should look even bolder and more aggressive than the outgoing model.

Interior

At this point, the interior is still a mystery. We haven’t had a chance to see the cabin yet but we definitely expect to see notable improvements in this aspect. First of all, we expect to see a much nicer cabin design, both in terms of materials and overall build quality. Naturally, the new aesthetics are also something we expect to see, with a more attractive dashboard and lots of new tech and convenience features.

Considering that the new generation is about to get bigger, it’s pretty much for sure that the new model will also offer more space on the inside. This refers to all seats but particularly for the third row, which currently isn’t particularly generous in this aspect. We also count on improvements regarding cargo volume.

2024 GMC Acadia Engines

As we already mentioned, the new generation will also feature a front-wheel-drive layout, while the AWD system will be optional. In terms of powertrain, we probably won’t see significant changes compared to the previous generation. So, the good-old 3.6-liter V6 should remain the main engine on offer. It currently puts out around 310 horsepower but we won’t exclude the possibility of seeing a slight power boost.

There is also a chance to see a less powerful and more efficient engine on offer. That would probably be a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which currently puts out around 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.

Both engines would come coupled with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

2024 GMC Acadia Release Date and Price

We expect to see the 2024 GMC Acadia sometime in the second half of the year, with a starting price of around 38.000 dollars. Key competitors should be models like Hyundai Palisade, Nissan Pathfinder etc.
