In today’s world, performance versions are a must, so it’s no wonder that even pickup trucks come in such variants. The Raptor has been around for years, while the new Rebel TRX offers an impressive amount of power. On the other side, Chevy still doesn’t have such a version in the offer, but things could change soon. However, Chevy might go in a little bit different direction and offer another kind of performance truck, which would come as the 2022 Chevy Silverado SS.
This would mean bringing back the famous “SS” badge. Naturally, the first thing that comes to mind is the legendary Chevy 454 SS model and its amazing layout. When it comes to base design characteristics, there is no doubt that the 2022 Chevy Silverado SS would be base on the current generation of standard Silverado. Since this would be one of the most expensive models in the lineup, we presume that the list of standard equipment would be pretty long.
Another thing that you should consider is that many reports suggest a complete interior redesign for the next year. As you probably know, the 2019 redesign didn’t bring any interior change, so this kind of update is definitely needed. If it happens, there is no doubt that the 2022 Chevy Silverado SS would come with some kinds of upgrades.
2022 Chevy Silverado SS Engines
One thing is sure, the 2022 Chevy Silverado SS definitely won’t come with the legendary 454 engine. Instead, we would expect to see something smaller, such as the current small-block 6.2-liter, which puts around 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Of course, we could easily see upgrades on this occasion, maybe even a Supercharged version of the engine, which can be found in the Camaro. That variant features a total output of 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, which would mean spectacular performance in practice.
Still, the actual chances to see this engine are small. We believe that Chevy would rather come up with a naturally-aspirated engine, while the potential upgrade would remain reserved for another rumored version, called ZRX. This would be a direct rival to the aforementioned Raptor and Rebel TRX models.
