The Japanese luxury carmaker is preparing a new flagship model, according to the latest reports. It looks like we are about to see a new range-topping crossover, which will come as the 2022 Lexus LQ. It looks like the new model will come as a replacement for the outdated LX model and, as you may presume, one of the biggest changes would be switching to a unibody platform.
Of course, that wouldn’t be the only major change in terms of design, as we count on a completely new styling approach, loads of new technologies and Toyota’s excellent hybrid powertrain. A hi-performance version is also expected and it will probably feature a max output of more than 600 horsepower.
2022 Lexus LQ Redesign
The new 2022 Lexus LQ is still in the early stage of development and we are still waiting for some more precise specifications. On the other side, we are pretty sure that the new model will share the platform with the flagship sedan LS. This means an RWD layout, with a wheelbase that goes around 123 inches in wheelbase, which promises impressive amounts of room on the inside.
When it comes to the styling, we expect that the new model will take a lot of inspiration from the LF-1 Limitless concept, while many design solutions should be borrowed from serial production models like LC, LS etc. This means a bold and sleek layout, highlighted by the company’s well-known spindle grille design.
When it comes to interior design, we have no doubt that the 2022 Lexus LQ will feature exceptional quality. Lexus models are well-known for the impressive build quality, which comes in a combination with hi-end materials. Therefore, we are sure that the new crossover won’t be any different. Still, we can’t say for sure how the new dashboard would look like, considering that the newest layouts look a little bit polarizing. So, we might see a little bit different approach this time. In any case, we count on a full load of tech and other features. Still, it’s hard to say whether we are about to see a classic touchscreen interface, or the Japanese manufacturer is about to continue with sticking to the not-so-intuitive touchpad design.
When it comes to the interior space, more than 120 inches in wheelbase promise nothing but tremendous amounts of space, whether its about passengers or cargo. Still, we can’t say if the standard model is about to come with three rows of seats, or the new crossover would come as a five-seater, with the optional third row.
2022 Lexus LQ Powertrain
When it comes to the powertrain, we count on both pure gasoline and hybrid options. When it comes to pure gasoline options, the base model would probably come with a familiar 3.5-liter V6, which puts out 318 horsepower. We count on a new 3.4-liter twin-turbo as well, with a max output of 415 horsepower. A hybrid version is expected as well, and we count on a familiar setup that delivers 354 horsepower.
Of course, we expect to see some sportier versions as well. For example, we could see a 5.0-liter V8 in the offer as well, Still, the top of the offer will probably be reserved for a hybrid powertrain. Allegedly, the Japanese manufacturer is preparing a hi-performance version that would feature more than 600 horsepower. More precise details are yet to come.
2022 Lexus LQ Release Date and Price
If we can rely on the latest reports, the 2022 Lexus LQ could arrive already in the next year. Reports suggest a starting price of around 80.000 dollars. As you may presume, the new model will compete with models like Mercedes-Benz GLS, BMW X7 and similar full-size luxury crossovers.
