The Japanese luxury carmaker is preparing a new flagship model, according to the latest reports. It looks like we are about to see a new range-topping crossover, which will come as the 2022 Lexus LQ. It looks like the new model will come as a replacement for the outdated LX model and, as you may presume, one of the biggest changes would be switching to a unibody platform.
Of course, that wouldn’t be the only major change in terms of design, as we count on a completely new styling approach, loads of new technologies and Toyota’s excellent hybrid powertrain. A hi-performance version is also expected and it will probably feature a max output of more than 600 horsepower.
2022 Lexus LQ Redesign
The new 2022 Lexus LQ is still in the early stage of development and we are still waiting for some more precise specifications. On the other side, we are pretty sure that the new model will share the platform with the flagship sedan LS. This means an RWD layout, with a wheelbase that goes around 123 inches in wheelbase, which promises impressive amounts of room on the inside.
When it comes to the styling, we expect that the new model will take a lot of inspiration from the LF-1 Limitless concept, while many design solutions should be borrowed from serial production models like LC, LS etc. This means a bold and sleek layout, highlighted by the company’s well-known spindle grille design.
Interior

Lexus models are well-known for the impressive build quality, which comes in a combination with hi-end materials. Therefore, we are sure that the new crossover won’t be any different. When it comes to the powertrain, we count on both pure gasoline and hybrid options. When it comes to pure gasoline options, the base model would probably come with a familiar 3.5-liter V6, which puts out 318 horsepower. We count on a new 3.4-liter twin-turbo as well, with a max output of 415 horsepower. A hybrid version is expected as well, and we count on a familiar setup that delivers 354 horsepower.
